last friday i went for my first interview ever.. yep..can you imagine that? i've never been on an interview before..at least a real interview for a full time job!
it's a pretty cool place..in fact there's a giant spiderman in the hallway so yeah =) i think i got a little high during the interview too with quite a bit of gesturing..i blame the milk tea..therefore i blame having to wake up so early...therefore i blame the distance.. GAH
so anyway i think it went pretty well..not sure what they might think..HR seems pretty satisfied and the supervisor is really nice too..i guess it will be a pretty good/cool place to work with lotsa job progression (ultimately)..the only 'BUT' in the story is the pay.. the HR kept telling me they dont have salary budget cos they were looking for a poly grad.. (of course after that she said they also want a uni grad..ok..i don't think i'm following her anymore..well..whatever..we'll see)

The May story(ies): Start of May was spent writing my essay..I think I kicked-ass! Really I think I did! Musicals, as a form of film genre, has a history of about 100 years, noted especially for its popularity with the masses. In this short history of musical films, it has undergone several cycles of popularity and downfall. This past decade, we see a new surge in musical films in Hollywood productions and this time, the wave has even hit the television networks. Last quarter’s most popular Hollywood TV show was musical series Glee, where young actors sing and dance to accentuate the story line, at same time creating a long-awaited ratings success in network TV. What did it take for musicals to make a comeback this time? However, musicals are not a popular genre in Chinese film-making in Asia. Even when released occasionally, they are usually non-mainstream and do not reach out to a large audience. Does this mean that Asian Chinese are not interested in making musical films, or do not have the ability to do so? If these Asian Chinese filmmakers do, what significance would it bring, and how can it learn from Hollywood’s success stories? This will be discussed in the next four chapters. Through analyzing different factors, I intend to explore the hows and whys in Hollywood’s new wave in musical films and why Asian Chinese filmmakers may consider developing films of this particular genre.

I went handcarry-ing a couple of times..seriously…US trips are so tiring!! Wassup with those crazy shortage of airtix man? Haha I could spend the whole day at the inn just watching Disney channel!) Smurfs at the Belgium pavilion! Yeah then my sister came visiting shanghai…actually more like spent 3 days at expo..siao right..and it was raining! Why did I even agree to go with??? At least I got ‘VIP’ entrance for Spain and Thai pavilions..connections rock! Haha BFFs! After which grass and moo came to visit!!! Woahhhh ho! That was really great! I missed them like crazy and it was really rare for us to have alone time! Yeah! And HTHT in the middle of the night? Gosh! Really miss those times….we picked up right from where we left of, which was really amazing..because 4 years is really not a short time! Tiffy would know..she spent 5.5years overseas, 1 whole year more than I did! It’s especially hard for the first year..
The Friends Obstacle Year 1: Still talking to your close friends regularly..i mean we don’t exactly meet up that often too even when I’m back in Singapore. Year 2: starts trying to initiate talk and talks get less frequent Year 3: really sian trying to initiate talk Year 4: (like me?) don’t want to come home liao..haha don’t know if it would be the same again with your “old close friends” (at this point..i really want to niao a certain someone..but I’m never going to reveal who it is! HA! 吃大便吧你！) And then I got emo after they left..like seriously couldn’t stop listening to Jay Chou’s 雨下一整晚…seriously that line “原來我從未習慣 你已不在我身旁” just totally gets me down man! After May comes June and it is not slack-ier than May..crap! It gets WAY busier….
The June Stories After grass and tiffy went back Singapore, I got back to my 2nd draft of my dissertation which I kept procrastinating…speaking of which! I LOVE my counselor! (not to be mixed up with my mentor) HAHAHA of course I do!! –eyes wide open and eyebrows super lifed- I mean I asked her the entire semester when we are supposed to hand in our paper..she kept saying “Oh I really don’t know..I will let you know asap” And then! BAM! She tells me on a Monday the last day of submission is Thursday! Of course she let me know asap right? I mean why would she drag on and not tell me as soon as she knows if the deadline was so close? Oh yeah..close huh? Maybe she’s not best friends with the school admin..so they don't want to tell her! So naughty right? I will complain to their mommy! I mean, she’s not as blur as she looked..yeah yeah I remember..YM and I were the one who told her we were supposed to take our graduation picture..but still! Not that blur right? Ha! Dripping with sarcasm throughout..I know..
So after handing in my paper, right on time..I actually suspect my mentor not reading my 2nd edit at all..just happily gave me a B+ (HA! My gpa actually increased by one teeny weeny bit) yeah..my last grade/paper/exam ever for school! Imagine what I was feeling as I put in that paper into his(my mentor) pigeonhole! Yep..dont think too much..not 空虛感.. it was more like: “OMG! I hope no one steals my paper from the pigeonhole!”
Then there was the start of all our crazy photo-taking…Elaine’s 21st birthday! (Wait. The real start was LAST Christmas…I remember our gorgeous Vogue-ish spread) Well so the aga-aga girls had their debut with Gee.. Aga-aga means we do everything in moderation..OR aga-ration.. aga-aga jiu ho lah! Aga aga girls debut!

Wow this is starting to sound like a very-fast-forwarded recount of my life..and very summarized too! But apparently these are the stuff I remember after a couple of months..so they must rock some serious brain cells!
And then! There was FUSSA ROCKER night! OMG! Grad night was absolutely one great awesomeness! I totally went GAGA! (like dressed like GAGA..i even made my own shiny crazy shades! HA!) sang a real tearjerker of ‘True Colors’..and was totally speechless when we(as in me and my non-batchmate Rebecca) were supposed to ‘say something’.. This is for FUSSA ok!!! FINE! Here goes! (All the super mushy cliché stuff that I can not say, because…hello??? Which Diva says such stuff? It’s not like it’s the Grammys???) I’m utterly grateful to FUSSA, honestly, the past seniors and the present juniors, the seniors who took me in and made me part of their family in the foreign land. Its not that easy for people who are ‘forced’ together to click, but we did so it’s a really beautiful kinda fate, there was hardly any need to compromise because there was this natural chemistry among us. I could go on and on haha..to the juniors, man! They make me feel so loved and needed! AWWWW~~~ And seriously, I never knew I was THAT funny! Really?? 你們太捧場啦！Most of us did not get to spend more than 1 year or 2 together but the bond we have, its really like a real family. Journ school prom night! 留學生s！！！
Actually, June was basically a very long process of graduation and phototaking..and phototaking…AND phototaking.. Our own photoshoot, each person’s faculty photoshoot, Journalism School’s photoshoot (crap! I was fat and bloated and I have allergies on my skin! ARGH! What a disaster!) Thanks to the Fussa girls who came and of course our 室友之愛―瑤瑤 haha signing my name at the graduates board 我愛煮飯糰！ 混了4年新聞學院的我們〜 感人的一刻〜 fussa太捧場！it was raining dogs and dogs! 瑤瑤the best roommmate hahahahaha 艷福！ 超酷的陸曄老師！說話超豪邁的〜 帥到爆的趙民老師！（那）天人超好的！還叫我站高一點哈哈哈 4年的廣電戰友！ 06廣電！speaking of which..wth was that photo about??? the auntie took a nicer photo why did they have to print out the one with my hat falling and me looking super awkward!! *super loud cries* *stamps feet*
Awww…I’m going to miss the journ girls!! YM+Eri+Sunghee! Is the Bali trip for real??? (highly skeptical ey…) Parents coming for 2 whole weeks to visit is seriously no joke man! I ATE! I DRANK! I PLAYED! I VISITED CRAZY ATTRACTIONS! No wonder I got so fat!!!!! I actually went to the Shanghai City Museum for the first time. OK…very paiseh! Actually saw 瑤瑤there! Unbelievable! And the museum was really not bad too! I still love the MOCA..saw some digitalized famous paintings from some unpronounceable museum (Uffizi) from Italy, even the benches there are super comfortable. Great furniture, good job! And Mdm Tussauds’s too.. Seriously, man! What’s up with that never-ever-ending long maze of dark crap??? Nothing scary, just really giddy! And why isn’t anyone grabbing Hugh Grant to take pictures?!?!?!? Fine! All the more for me!! MUAHAHHAHA How can there be no queue for hugh grant?!
Ok..just to let you know..I wrote this entry in Word first..just in case the server crashes..and FYI..its on page 5 now and going onto page 6! I wasn’t that efficient writing my paper! HAHAHA!
Finally..we reach July.. So yeah..graduation day is finally here! I woke up early, annoyed to find my allergies still on my fat and bloated round face, but the sky was clear! For ONCE in that entire week of constant crazy thunderstorms! Graduation day was…well…a lot less exciting than I imagined..in fact..it felt like one big ceremony to end off our very long process of photo-taking..What YM said was right, we already took SO MANY pictures, it felt like we already graduated.. AKA..BOH FEEL! Yep..yvonne even asked me: 為什麼你畢業那麼久的? Ermmmm….. –awkward silence- Papa and mommy! Fussa就是美女多〜 We had our ceremony in the haolian stadium in 南區…speeches after speeches.. And that alumni from Inner Mongolia…ok seriously…誰允許你講那麼久的？ And basically, he was really just showing off..we got so pissed we started texting each other in the stadium..I mean we were all sitting pretty far apart because of our different faculties, except for me and YM and that guy was just going on and on about his medical achievments. Hmpf! Showoff! And then there was the foreign students representative…apparently she’s very yayapapaya (as heard from Rebecca)…REALLY? All that mumbling? 又是誰批准你代表我講話的？! 煮飯糰的真面目！(Plus rebecca hahaha! ngeh ngeh chap in) After long tiring ceremony was over, and extremely early too, ok..honestly I can’t remember what we did that day already! Haha..except that we had that wonderful-super-yummilicious hummus with pita at Hayas Israeli restaurant..crazy storm again that night! So yep..super lucky us! AND THEN! I went to bake in Beijing for 4 days! 41degrees! Ok I repeat! 41DEGREES! FOURTY-ONE DEGREES! What the hell was that??? I put on sunblock (gao gao), shades and even used my umbrella but my exposed skin hurt! Like they really sting! And I even turned like two shades darker!! OMG! WOE ON ME!!! No no no no no no no no no no no no no no no no no noooooooo!!! Of course we covered all those regular Beijing places of interest..actually I was the tour guide..my (useless) sister who already spent one year there has not been to any of those touristy places… yep..say it with me again.. WHAT?! 曬到鬼樣〜
And then suddenly! I was counting down my days in Shanghai! NOOOOOOOOOOOOO!! This can not be happening?! How did it come about so fast?? Packing sucks! It really does.. And once again..all my 姐妹們 in Shanghai..taobao is evil!!!!!!!!!!! (Oh on! It isn’t! I apologize! I miss taobao so much…. Waaaaaaaaaaaa *major sobs*) I have soooo much stuff! OMG and then I shipped 5 boxes home..that was approximately 1000rmb..think about that! It was really very 痛苦trying to figure out what are the stuff you want, the stuff you need immediately, the stuff you can ship, the stuff that are just in between.. ‘Stuff that are just in between’ are the most evil! They totally hold back your packing!!! Because when you think you’re done, you suddenly see this other pile you think you might/might not need and you think “What the hell is that man???? Where did all these stuff come from???“ well anyway, right now..I absolutely hate ‘stuff that come in between’!! Wow.. and then it was going home day I still remember that day! We were rushing early to take our grad photos (see! Never-ending!) around school cos I(we) still don’t have a picture with maomao!! Outrageous I know! And so we did….
Conclusion: 4 years is simply not enough! I miss Shanghai already!! (Actually I started missing Shanghai 3 days after I got home…I want to go back SH already!)
OMG!!!! Just how much weight did I gain these past 2 weeks? Too much of ho liao and now I balloon to like what? Twice my original size? I want to die. And KL is complaining about her weight gain...at least she started small..my start line is already way further than everyone else.. GAH Maybe a cosmetic surgeon/intern is interested in using me as their practice subject? Free slimming is welcomed anytime! That said, regardless how I look, my weight remains the SAME. 完全無動於衷. ARGHHHHHHHHHH
you know when people says put yourself in other's shoes? it's always biased cos whenever you try to think in "somebody else's shoes", you are actually thinking based on your assumptions about that person, what you perceived the other person might think and what you know about that person are forever incomplete facts, and they are FACTS, not even truth. ultimately, you never ever take off your own shoes you just vainly believed you did.

celebrated my birthday one day in advance (the kids have got classes today) elaine was the host and i was the guest :D finally i didn't have to plan for my own birthday.. haha it was a 'surprise' party cos i wasn't supposed to know what they were going to do and when.. but yunmin did drop lotsa hints lah..i guessed picnic at 相辉堂 which was close enuf since the plan was 光华楼草坪 but that weather sucked yesterday so we ended up pot-lucking at home which was another easy guess since yunmin started cooking alot at 2+pm.. like..as if i'm blind or totally stupid hahaha
people started arriving at around 4pm (and i wasn't ready! ok to be honest..i wasn't very enthusiastic about dressing up since we would be at home~ haha) did a little extra something with my hair..i love braids! they are so french and romantic~ with lotsa food!! everyone really put in alot of effort! touched! thanks thanks!!
